Nightlife in Taipei

On Friday I went clubbing for the 1st time in Taipei. But before going out we decided to have some All-you-can-eat Hot Pot. It was incredible! Ice cream, wine, beer, meat and vegetables as much as you want! It was like a dream come true. Some of the girls, who made this evening ever more beautiful were from Germany. It was a good kind of weird speaking German in Taipei and having Haeger Dazs icecream!

On Saturday I went out with some coworkers of mine to a french Restaurant, specializing on wine and cheese. It tasted like home! We had some Riesling and Chardonnay with Jambon, fries, onion rings and different types of cheese. If the price would not be so high, due to the need of import, I would go there everyday!

Climbing 石筍尖山頂/ Sun Jian Peak stone

Today coworkers invited me to climb 石筍尖山頂 with them. It was quit wet and it kept raining, but this did not break our courage and full of enthusiasm we started the slippery climb.

 First steps in Jingtong

Today V. explained to me the reason why many Taiwanese mountains have stone steps. He said that due to a big unemployment wave during the first years of Taiwans war with China, the government created work by letting veterans and others build roads and stairs throughout the country, creating strategically important infrastructure.

 Halfway through

Sadly the view was hidden from us, by fog. Nevertheless the feeling of making it up to the top was incredible.

The way down, seemed to be even more dangerous. Due to the rain stones were especially slippery and the steep cliffs were not making us much braver.

Nevertheless, seeing the diversity and beauty of Taiwans nature was worth the risk.

On our way down we saw a couple of people farming and having all kinds of animals. I feel really blessed to be given this opportunity to discover such an amazing country.

Jiufen & Keelu

This weekend I joined K&P on a trip to Jiufen and Keelung. The old city of Jiufen and the night market of Keelung were incredible.

Shaved mango ice

To get to Jiufen, we had to take the train first to Ruifang. We took some time to have a look around, before we got on the bus to Jiufen.

View from Jiufen

When we arrived at Jiufen we had an incredible view. Unfortunately it got foggy pretty fast.

Jiufen's famous market

Ice coffee

Ruffy lollipops

It is very hard to summarize my impression of Jiufen market. On every corner we discovered something incredibly beautiful. Delicious food, amazing art and way too many people.

Some friends of K & P showed us around.

The fog is slowly building up.

beautiful temple details

We took a bus from Jiufen to get to Keelung nightmarket.

Keelung nightmarket is enormous. People buy different kinds of food at the market and gather in the center, where a beautiful temple is located.

Our last big long walk was next to Keelung harbor. It was refreshing to smell and see the ocean.
